Not even a hello, Damian? I know you’re stressed but….
Kevin had to look at caller ID and recognise his voice in order to piece together what is even happening. Fun fact: I headcanon Damian as having a pretty distinctive low voice so it shouldn’t be too hard.
Note: “mins” is a contraction of minutes.

"Do you know if Darrell's supposed to be in tonight or is someone else coming in to cover me in a few mins?"
Silence is traded between Kevin on the phone and Damian. Damian did not even say hello.
Kevin collects his thoughts, then starts to talk.
"It's Darrell's Friday in to cover. It is on the rota."
Damian moves between slumping to wildly gesturing.
"Yes i know there's the rota but I'm tell you he's definitely not here right now. He's supposed to have taken me off fifteen minutes ago. It's just me down here!"
Kevin lets out a small "Ah.... hold tight. I'll give him a ring."
Damian puts down the phone and grabs his mobile from his pocket.
He texts: "Hey mum. Just to let you know my cover's running late. Gonna be a bit later than usual"
He puts away his phone. "Hope he's not gonna be too long..."
At the other end of the store, a customer starts to tap impatiently at the deli counter glass. Damian's face distorts to frustration from his hiding spot by the phone on the meat counter. "LEAVE ME ALONE!" his thoughts scream.
