Verity’s smile beams at Khara. “But WOW! I hadn’t realised you have been here that long!”
Khara smiles back. “Oh yes, though Flori was here a few years before me. We’ve both seen go from newbie to, well, everywhere in the store over the years. We take care of each other. Maybe verity too will do the same with you and the others when we move on.”
Ash’s quiet, reserved smile breaks into a slight nervous twitch as he wraps a cheese. “W-well I appreciate that. I gotta see if the bosses keep me on in the first place!”
He reaches down over the counter. “I’m still on a temporary contract, well, probation period. Whatever it’s called.
Verity unpacks a box and lets slip a wry smirk. “Heh. Don’t worry, it ain’t easy to get fired in retail. Besides, we really do need an extra person around, so they’d be mad to turn you away.“
Ash stops leaning over and stands straight. “I suppose so.. Ha ha…”
His thoughts start to talk to him. “I guess it’s nice to be wanted, even after such a poor first impression today!”
He then gently slaps his cheeks to recenter his thoughts. “No! No thoughts like that right now! No one has told me off directly so I am fine!”
Meanwhile the tall, long haired male coworker stands on the other counter nearby and tries to get Ash’s attention.
